I learned leadership at 22, as the only woman in a convention department in Grand Bahama. I didn't eat fish. One Saturday morning in the banquet kitchen, breakfast was boiled fish and johnny cake. I asked for eggs and bacon, and my boss said, "Fish is chicken of the sea." Nobody made me a separate plate. By the time I left Grand Bahama, I was a fish eater.
That's still how I work. I'll encourage you, but I won't coddle you. I see the bigger picture of what you're carrying, and I help you build the steps to get there.
Since then I've directed convention and catering services, helped grow a business from 2 stores to 4, planned conferences, and trained leaders who keep inviting me back. My faith in God is the root of all of it. You won't hear me preach at you, but you'll feel it in how I show up.
